Academy Titanic – 1:400 scale – {part 2}

May 26, 2015

At this point,  I’m still doing some fact finding and planning.   The website that I posted the link to,  hasn’t even been seen yet.   The kit instruction includes it’s own color scheme……at the moment,  I’m going by what they suggest.   Since I want to try and install lighting in the model,  I was looking at some of the parts and how they relate to each other.  First ……..the hull and the stand.

#1

As mentioned,  the holes for the stand have not been left open………but hidden in case another stand is to be used.

#2

I made a goof with the deck picture….the sprue with the bow and stern pictured,  was upside down,  so the deck detail could not be seen.    I made amends by showing a picture of it here.

#3

For some reason,   they felt that they needed to illustrate the different compartment,  on the decks.

#4

I reviewed the chrome sprue again,  before removing the first group of parts.   It will be the stand parts.

#6    #7

The name plate will also need to be done.   As most modelers know…….it’s not a good thing to paint over chrome.   Especially if they want the paint to stay on it,  without cracking and peeling.   Further looking at the hull……the areas where the screw tunnels are to be,  will need to be sanded or scraped.

#8    #9

You can see how visible the mold seam is.   The assembly of this model begins,  with the cementing of the cross braces for the hull.   These will insure that the hull is spread out evenly.   The build has begun.

AHOY!!!
